Where There's Smoke

About this project

Helen & David from Where There’s Smoke have been clients for over 10 years. This website is the latest redesign project for their innovation consultancy, and this time we needed to shift the focus to their new integrated way of working.

Having been working with globally dispersed teams and remote collaboration tools such as Miro, MS Teams and Zoom for several years before the pandemic hit, Helen & David wanted to highlight their experience in this area, as more and more businesses are adopting a blended onsite/remote way of working. I created custom photographic composites to put actual screenshots of their workspaces into stock images, and briefed their videographer on creating a demo video to help showcase this.

In addition, I sourced a range of video backgrounds that incorporate the concept of smoke, sparks & fire to tie in with their brand and bring a sense of dynamism to the website. I also created a set of custom icons that used their neon-style branding as a starting point, and helped them find a unique and visually impactful way to highlight their team’s skills through a word cloud in brand colours, instead of a boring list of text bullets.

The website also includes little design touches such as a custom floating download button, plus a Keynote template for client logos and a testimonials ‘database’ that makes it easy for them to manage themselves.

NOTE: After project completion, all clients receive training to empower them to update their own websites, so bear in mind that anything you see on the live website may not reflect my design work.
