How it works

It’s collaborative.

The 2-Day Intensive is a collaborative process, which means that we both set aside the booked dates to work exclusively on your website. I’ll be doing the majority of the work, but you’ll need to be available throughout the full duration for questions, feedback and training.

It’s intensive.

It’s made up of 2x full working days (total 14 hours) plus pre-work for you to carry out in advance, preparing all of the raw materials to hand over to me. The pre-work can be quite intensive, too. Don’t underestimate the time needed for preparation.

It’s supportive.

We’ll start with an initial planning call at least 2 weeks prior to your chosen dates, to go through your project and goals. You’ll also receive my Website Preparation Toolkit at this stage, which contains guides, templates & tips on preparing your materials for the project - from copywriting, to logo sizes and image formats.

It’s flexible.

As every website and project is different, I will create whatever page types you need - whether it’s a blog, project portfolio or standard web pages. However, eCommerce is not included (too many elements for a 2-day project).

I’m flexible on logistics, too: we can meet at my London office, or on Zoom. And if timezones or childcare are an issue, you can choose to split the dates across different mornings or afternoons.

Is it a good fit for you?

The 2-Day Intensive approach is best if:

  • You need a very small and basic new website, but your budget won’t stretch to a full design & build project.

  • You don’t have super-detailed design needs, you just need something polished and professional.

  • You have a clear, prioritised list of what you want to achieve for your website, including your site structure (what pages you will have & what goes on each one).

  • You have the time to do all the preparation beforehand (you’ll receive my Website Preparation Toolkit to help you).

  • You can set aside the allocated/chosen dates and can be available for quick review & feedback during those dates.

  • You’re comfortable with the idea of carrying out some things on your own once you’ve been trained and set up, in the unlikely event that your wishes/changes exceed the time allocated.

This approach is NOT for you if:

  • You're likely to get pulled onto other projects and cannot commit to having everything ready by a fixed deadline. This is a biggie!

  • You want to get it all done basically tomorrow (I recommend at least 3 weeks from initial booking, to allow time for your prep work).

  • You like to mull things over before making decisions, or you need to get stakeholder input/approvals.

  • You or your audiences need lots of design bells & whistles, or you want to explore different design routes.

  • You’re building an eCommerce site, a large website with lots of pages or page types, or a complex website with lots of different types of functionality.

  • You’re not comfortable with the uncertainty of whether we’ll get to do everything in this concentrated chunk of time.

Still not sure? Book a briefing call to talk it through.

The Nitty Gritty

  • Yes! It’s normally possible to do a full website design and build, from scratch, for websites made up of 4 or fewer pages, if you already have branding or minimal branding needs. It’s important to note that this is highly dependent on how well you can brief me so I hit your target as close as possible, and how decisive you can be when it comes to feedback.

Rarely, some clients who have lots of changes/questions/pages have found that we need more time than the 2-Day Intensive - in which case, I’ll give you a quote for any extras, and you’ll get a special discounted rate.

Just setting expectations here. If you’re not clear on anything, feel free to ask about this in a briefing call.

  • We’ll start with an initial consultation call to go through your project and goals.

I'll also provide a Website Preparation Toolkit and step-by-step guides to help you get things ready.

You'll need to allow time in your schedule for sourcing imagery, drafting content, chasing up decisions etc before we start. Don’t worry, I’ll give you guidance on all content preparation.

  • For the most part, it works like this:

    • First, you’ll brief me and go through your materials, and I can ask clarifying questions.

    • Then, I’ll get straight into design & build, while you can get on with your usual day, making sure you are available for instant questions.

    • I will release things to you on a page-by-page basis, incorporating your changes/feedback as we go.

    • You’ll get basic training on how you can make changes yourself, either as part of feedback Zoom meetings or at the end of the second day.

  • A 2-Day Intensive is designed to take place in two 7-hour work days. Normally this takes place remotely through a series of Zoom meetings interspersed with solo work time, or in-person at my London office in Brixton (Zone 2) where I have a desk for you & a big screen to work from.

Normally days run 9:30am - 5:30pm UK time, though I can offer some flexibility if you are in a different time zone.

    • A 60 minute planning call

    • My full Website Preparation Toolkit (including detailed instructions, templates and guides)

    • 14 hours of my undivided attention to work on your website, including training

    • Access to my 20+ years experience, to ‘pick my brains’ on any aspect of digital comms throughout the project

    • Discounted rate on any follow-up work that may be required

  • The Expert for a Day service is £2000 (+ VAT for UK clients).

You'll pay a 50% deposit upfront, and the 50% balance invoice will be issued at the end of the final session (payment terms 30 days). I take payments by card or bank transfer, in GBP, USD, CAD or Euros - just ask if you wish to be billed in a currency other than GBP.

  • My diary tends to get booked a minimum of 3 weeks in advance, but that’s actually a good thing as you’ll need time to do the prep work before our session(s). Book a briefing call to discuss date options.

Ready to book? Or maybe you have questions?

The next step is to book a free briefing call to talk things through, and if all sounds good, to agree dates.

A contract and full Terms & Conditions will be sent out before we start.
