Praxis

About this project

Laura from Praxis, an advocacy organisation for refugees & migrants, wanted help moving away from paying a web agency for every website update, and into a more modern system that her team could manage themselves. She had clear ideas on what she wanted, and with some previous website update experience under her belt, we opted for a collaborative approach to create the new Praxis website.

We used some of Laura’s example sites and my own client sites for inspiration, and together we designed the framework for the new site, with a focus on making it easier for the different types of website users to find what they needed, including a clear signpost to Get Help for those whose first language is not English.

In our collaboration sessions, we built the main pages and set up templates for the areas where there would be lots of similar content, such as the Stories section. Then, between sessions Laura filled the templates and finished putting content into the framework, before a final pre-launch tidy up by me.

We have subsequently continued the collaborative approach whenever Laura needs new pages or sections on the website, such as moving their previous PDF annual report into an interactive online microsite.

NOTE: After project completion, all clients receive training to empower them to update their own websites, so bear in mind that anything you see on the live website may not reflect my design work.
