The full story:

I thrive on variety and learning, which has made me an online jack of all trades. Over the years, I have done everything from creating websites, planning social media strategies, procuring content management systems, developing business cases for e-commerce systems, building web teams, running online PR and e-mail marketing campaigns – to more abstract work such as influencing senior management to understand why blogs could be a better way of communicating with their staff, demonstrating to compliance teams that wikis can form a part of the official corporate records, and coaching people with great ideas to shed their fears and share them online.

I have worked with small teams, large teams, cross-departmental groups and outsourced agencies, in small companies, public sector bodies, global corporates and international charities. While this makes it hard for me to narrow things down to one area of expertise, the benefit is that I understand the pain points of people up and down the chain, and can successfully negotiate complex internal relationships and organisational cultures.

The net effect of such a wide range of experience is that I have been exposed to most kinds of web-related issues, have gained a solid understanding of what it takes to be successful online, and can now offer a range of solutions to fit nearly every budget and business model.

Through all this, my underlying approach to every situation is:

  • Understand what people are trying to achieve, and in what context
  • Draw on my broad experience to choose the best method of delivering this
  • Prove that it’s the right thing to do by demonstrating the value and impact
  • Put together a plan of how to do it, measure it and analyse it

  • Speaking: I am an experienced public speaker who can engage audiences using language that makes sense to them, whatever their level of web-savvy. I have spoken on a range of topics at company and public conferences with audiences of up to 350 people, including non-native English speakers.
  • Workshops: I can work with you and other relevant people in your organisation or its sphere of influence to help identify the ways which online tools can help make your workflow quicker, your communication better and your lives easier.
